Ummm, should I be posting this?

I wasn't sure if I should bore you with this post. It's all about stats - book stats, to be precise. Many of you are avid readers too, so I hope I'll get away with this; that you may find book stats interesting as well. ;)

This is somewhat a peculiar habit of mine - every 6 months, I like to review my reading progress. :) For 2010, I want to read 100 books. Let's see how I'm doing so far...

Books Read, January to June: 61 (yay!)

Books To-Be-Read: 204 (60 are eBooks)

I want to, MUST, reduce my TBR! It's no fun having 144 books lying around gathering dust. I promised myself I won't buy another book in July. And perhaps in August as well. Unless it's Jeaniene Frost's Eternal Kiss Of Darkness, which I have to have! Buying 1 book in 2 months isn't so bad, right? ;)

How are you doing with your reading so far? How many books are there in your TBR?

Um.. Yeah my number may actually be over your number. I have stopped counting after 201. I think it may be at 240. Really bad. Really need to read faster.

I wish I had your TBR! I have four in it right now! (Not counting books I'm waiting to release that I either wait for the library to order, don't buy or do buy. *g* I keep records of the books I read, too. So book stats are fun to me. Best of luck getting your TBR down! *G*

Jan: I'm not surprised at all that your TBR is much bigger than mine. :D I saw the number of books you scored at the recent convention! Enjoy!

Brandy: You go through books so fast - I wish I could read like you! I've been good about not buying any more books so far, and I'm sure I can keep at it for another month. ;)

I don't read that fast and there are some days where I don't read for three days or more because everything here is just so busy. I can't afford to buy many books right now so am hoping the library can keep up with me. *G*

of course you can post this, its refreshing to talk books and reading, I can do it with anyone, any time.
Sadly only 24 books have I read this year... I went a long time watching tv shows on dvd from the first season to the end, it was fun, but I have missed reading.
I keep an A4 notebook with 120 pages for listing books I want to read in my lifetime.... I tick them off but the list flourishes!
Sometimes I think, with all these books I still want to read, that it is a crime to re-read my favourite books but sometimes, their call is so strong... like as soon as I finish the book I'm reading now I will be rereading my jane Austens....
then it will be the miniseries of each book, the movies..... I am diseased!

don't laugh (okay do) but I just thought of a justification for rereading my faves.... I am saving for surgery so its economic to read what I already have!

Just wanted to say I hope you're having a good weekend and dropping the count in your TBR pile! *G*

Brandy: If I had a library as well-stocked as yours, I wouldn't need to buy as many books as I do. I'm really envious of you (and Christine) for your libraries. The amount of $ I spend on books each year is truly scary. (Each paperback costs about 32 local dollars - you do the math.) I need to cut back on impulse buys and buy only authors I know I'll enjoy.

I've read only 3 books so far this month; hope to read at least 2 more for the month. :)

Starry: There's absolutely nothing wrong with re-reading your favourites! I do it every now and then. ;) That's why they're favourites/keepers. :) Now that I'm consciously cutting back on book-buying, I think I'll follow your example and re-read more often. :)
