A little gift

I made these "hookmarks" (short for hook bookmarks) as gifts for friends near and far. I hope they will like them.

The blue ones are my latest designs. I'm pleased with how they turned out. Quite tedious to make but well worth the effort.

I've become very fond of these hookmarks - I'm barely making book thongs now! Book thongs are so much harder and time consuming to make, and I think they're quite fiddly to use? I reckon I'll still make them, though, since they are my very first creations, but I will definitely make more hookmarks.

Multi-purpose X'mas Card

I started thinking about making Christmas cards a few weeks ago. I don't want to buy cards off the shelf anymore - they are beginning to look more and more commercial and generic. Sure, you could find exclusive handmade ones but have you seen the price tags?!

Anyway, I wanted my cards to serve more than one purpose ... so I made these origami christmas trees that function as cards (greetings written at the back) + bookmarks (told you I'm a bookmark freak).

I crocheted the ties with metallic yarn and attached beads at the ends. And I suddenly realized that they serve another purpose too - hang them by the loops and they become Christmas ornaments!

Mission accomplished. *grin*

Damned cold ...

No, not the cold weather (it had been raining everyday for the past week) but the head cold I'm nursing. I started feeling unwell yesterday - stuffed nose, headaches, sneezes but no fever. I have things to do but I just don't feel particularly alive enough to get them done. *sigh* I just want to drink chicken soup and go to sleep. I hope this passes quickly.

I made this a few days ago ... the latest addition to my shop. I named it Serenity. What do you think - does the name fit? More pics and info here.

Sweet Dreams, Mr Furball

I took this pic 2 nights ago. It was a cold night as it had rained the whole day. I sat crocheting on the other end of this sofa while Mr F commandeered his favourite corner. We shared the sofa comfortably, each doing his/her own thing, with the quiet of the night for company.

I was engrossed in my crocheting when I heard some "funny" sounds coming from Mr F. They sounded like soft wheezes + mewling. I leaned closer and poked Mr F gently with my finger but he never stirred. *grin* He was so deeply asleep - I think he was having pleasant dreams. *grin*

Mr Furball

This is the four-legged member of my family ... also known as Naughty Cat, Handsome Cat, Fat Cat, Kooky Cat. Aged 8+ with an "interesting" personality to go with his seniority. LOL

'Season's Sentiments' Promotion

I'm running a promotion at my shop which I named 'Season's Sentiments'. From now till 31 December 2009, customers will receive a Limited Edition Keychain with every US$15 purchase (in the same invoice). I made these keychains especially for this promotion so these designs will not be repeated. Customers can choose whether they want the Gold or the Silver keychain.

I just made this for my shop. I named it Cherish but if you can think of a more fitting name, do let me know. *wink* For me, it evokes sweetness and joy ... what about you?

The yarn I used is a variegated rose + cream colour. It's 100% cotton and was so smooth and lovely to work on. I intend to make more items with this yarn.

I had neglected my shop quite a bit over the last 4 months but I'm motivated to start creating again. Creativity is a funny thing - at least for me - and this is a story for another day.
